Grants Calendar and Process:
Charlesview, Inc. is pleased to announce its twelfth year of funding from The Rabbi Abraham Halbfinger and Charlesview Community Fund.
The Charlesview grants committee awards grants once per year in the late fall. Prospective applicants must begin the process by submitting a Letter of Interest through GMA Foundations’ online application portal at the link below byApril 6, 2026.
The online portal will be open to receive Letters of Interest on February 16, 2026. The access code to complete the application is charles1.

The grants committee will review the Letters of Interest and then identify a limited number of proposals for further investigation. Those selected will be asked to submit a full proposal by June 1, 2026. Please note that much of the LOI can be cut and pasted into the full application.
Meet the Donor:
You are welcome to learn more about the Fund on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at its annual Meet-the-Donor Breakfast at the Charlesview Community Center at 123 Antwerp St. in Brighton. Garage parking is available. The breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Fund overview beginning at 9:00 a.m. At that time, we will review the guidelines as well as detail some newer elements, such as the Fund’s multi-year grant opportunity as well as the online Letter of Intent (LOI) process. While the Fund targets organizations headquartered or already heavily invested in the Allston/Brighton neighborhood, it will consider organizations from Greater Boston that are interested in expanding their work to the Allston/Brighton community. Public and private schools will not be directly funded but are encouraged to partner with organizations to submit applications in any of the core areas.
New applicants are strongly encouraged to both attend the 3/12 breakfast and to contact the Fund to schedule one-on-one coaching sessions and to submit an Letter Of Interest. In addition, strategic/business planning help for small, emerging organizations is available on a limited, first-come/first-serve basis. Grant Size:
This year upon reflection and discussion, the committee recognized that the cost of living and of doing business in the non-profit sector has significantly increased in our current environment and has increased the upper limit of the grant to $40,000.
Organizations that received funds last year will be eligible to apply for a second year of funding by describing how a second year would increase the impact of the program, what they would anticipate accomplishing in the second year and how this would assist the sustainability of the program. Additional questions will be added to the Letter of Interest for those organizations to complete.
Reporting Requirements:
All Fund grantees must submit both interim and final reports that describe the use of grant funds and the project’s impact.
Exclusions:
The Rabbi Abraham Halbfinger and Charlesview Community Fund does not normally support:
- Programs whose impact is substantially outside the Allston-Brighton neighborhood
- Proposals with poorly defined outcomes or benchmarks for success
- Capital requests for building, equipment or property acquisition, with the exception of specified small equipment (e.g. computers) required for conducting the proposed program
- Programs for which the public sector normally assumes primary funding responsibility
- Requests from individuals
- Requests to directly support public, private, charter or religious schools. However, schools may be a partner or beneficiary of a nonprofit organizations’ work
- Camp scholarships
