On Wednesday, May 28th, Stand University for Parents (Stand UP) — an 8-week workshop for families focused on becoming more engaged in their children’s’ education — held a graduation ceremony for parents in the Allston-Brighton community.
The workshop is operated by Stand University, a nonprofit dedicated to enduring that all children, regardless of their background, graduate from high school prepared for and with access to, a college education. With members in more than 100 communities across Massachusetts who prioritize child advocacy in school reform efforts, the organization’s ultimate goal is to ensure that every child has access to a high quality education and an equitable chance to succeed in life. Stand Up provides parents with action steps they can immediately take to improve education outcomes for their children. This course stemmed from a national ongoing discussion about the importance of parent engagement in the academic future of a child. The afternoon ceremony was well attended by graduates and families. Congratulations to the graduates!
