About Charlesview, Inc.
Charlesview, Inc. is dedicated to advancing the well-being of individuals and families and to promoting the diversity and vibrancy of the Allston-Brighton community. We do this by providing healthy, affordable homes; offering programs designed to enrich, educate and inspire; and engaging in innovative philanthropy.
More than a hundred residents and community members joined Charlesview, Inc. at the Josephine A. Fiorentino Community Center last night to listen to readings, sing, and have refreshments in honor of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.
The evening was kicked off by Rabbi Yonah Berman from Congregation Kadimah-Toras Moshe, Brighton, and Vice Chair of the Charlesview, Inc. Board of Directors. Reverend Zachary Kerzee, Community United Methodist Church, Allston, also a board member, impressed the crowd with his skills at the guitar, as he played the song, “I have a Dream” and “We Shall Overcome.” Father Frank Glynn of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Allston and Charlesview, Inc. Board Chairman offered uplifting comments and invited several other participants to comment.
A major highlight of the evening was the showing of a special MLK dedication film, WeCast Media, produced in collaboration with several Charlesview youth residents. WeCast Media Productions regularly holds classes at the Community Center for youth interested in learning how to make films. See the calendar for more information.
After the program, attendees had refreshments, talked to neighbors, made new friends and went on a tour of the Community Center led by Charlesview Executive Director Jo Ann Barbour. State Representative Kevin Honan attended the event and joined several others to tour the new facility. Below are some photos of the event.
